Double H Bluegrass
Bob & Kirby have been performing together since 2012 as Bob & Kirby’s Double H Bluegrass Band, based in High Point, NC. Featuring tight harmony vocals and often compared to the vocal styles of the Louvin Brothers, they include a mix of bluegrass & country favorites, and what they describe as “bluegrassifying” some folk and rock standards. Both singer-songwriters, they have each brought original tunes to the mix as well.
Pieces of a Dream, the freshman project for Double H Bluegrass released in 2016, and has been well received in Bluegrass Unlimited magazine and can be heard on radio stations and internet broadcasts.
Bob Hight plays mandolin and lead guitar and sings with Kirby Heard, on rhythm guitar and mandolin. Kurt Hubbard joined the duo in 2018 on upright bass fiddle and adds a solid rooting for this group, whether they perform as a trio or a full bluegrass band. Marshall Gray completes the group on banjo and brings the 5-string to a whole new level. Full of fun and energy, this group brings a full plate to the party, no matter what is on the menu.
Bob won 2nd place, Gospel category, in the 2018 Chris Austin Songwriting competition at Merlefest. Congratulations, Bob!
